Education & Career Development
Academic Success
Programs in this Core Program Area enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
Examples of programs in our Clubs:
Project Learn
Project Learn reinforces and enhances the skills and knowledge young people learn at school during the hours they spend at the Club. This comprehensive program strategy is based on Dr. Reginald Clark’s research showing that students do much better in school when they spend their non-school hours engaged in fun, but academically beneficial, activities.
Power Hour
Power Hour: Making Minutes Count provides Club professionals with the strategies, activities, resources and information to create an engaging homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members at every age to become self-directed learners.
Money Matters
Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among Club members ages 13-18, building their basic money management skills. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save, and invest. They also learn about starting small businesses and paying for college.
Skill Tech
Skill Tech: Basic Training is an engaging, hands-on program that appeals to members of all ages and technical abilities. Participating Club members have learned how to use Microsoft Powerpoint.
Kids College
Kids College is an online software used to increase reading, math, and science skills. The software is paired with ongoing contests to increase motivation, fun, and recognition.
